The Renderer

Four type of light source.

Three rendering methods are available

NB : the following renderings have been calculated for a 320x240 pixels image by a 66Mhz PowerPC 601. The scene conains about 10 000 faces.

Wireframe / Facets
2 seconds

This kind of rendering is suited for modeling interactively while previewing geometric smoothing, inclusions and draft texturing. Boolean operations stay "virtual" and most material options are not rendered.

Scanline
10 seconds

Slower than the first method, this renderer lets you see all boolean operations, and almost all material options such as bump, transparency and sharpness.

Interpolation of imported images : a small image can map a large surface without having big visible pixels.

No Interpolation With Interpolation

Any number of rendering windows can be associated to a modeler window and interactively reflect its changes.

Ray tracing
1 minute

Final rendering, this method reproduces all optical effects of diffraction, reflexion and casted shadows. A special high quality anti-aliasing is dedicated to this method (selective oversampling).

The order of calculation (progressive sharpening) allows one to use this methode to have a very quick preview of the lightening and colors (5 seconds for 8x8 pixels, 3 seconds for 16x16).
